Wilmington, NC is a city known for its stunning coastal views and world-class fishing - and recently, I had the opportunity to experience both firsthand. I spent the day on the water with Reel Girl Clothing Company and Horse Sportsfishing. It was an experience I won't forget.
As a photographer, I'm used to being behind the camera, capturing the adventures of others. But recently, I had the opportunity to step out of my comfort zone, be in front of the camera, and experience adventure. I went deep-sea fishing with three incredible and inspiring women, and an experienced charter.
As we headed out into the water, I knew this would be an incredible day. We made our way out to the deep sea, nearly 60 miles out, and to my surprise, the sun was shining, the sea was calm, and the excitement on board was contagious. I couldn't wait to see what the day had in store.

Decked in our best , we reeled in fish after fish, and I was struck by how well-designed and comfortable their clothing is. But, of course, the "reel" highlight of the day was the fishing itself. We were out on the Eastern Coastal Carolina Coast with the expert guidance of the Horse Sport Fishing crew, and we caught some impressive fish - including wahoo and mackerel. Let me tell you - the rush of reeling in a big fish is unlike anything else. And I must admit is one of my top favorite adrenaline rushes.
As we cruised back to shore as the sun set, I couldn't help but reflect and feel grateful for this experience. And as a writer, I was excited to share it with my readers.
